Image
This bill would benefit the world's texting capital, the Philippines.  A reduction of 20 centavos per text message is already a big help.  Let us support Rep. Terry L. Ridon for his great endeavor. The author does not claim ownership of this post.  It was originally published in the website of the House of Representatives at www.congress.gov.ph.  His main purpose was to publicize what our government official is doing for the welfare of our countrymen.   Rep. Terry L. Ridon (Party-list, Kabataan) has filed a bill seeking to lower the cost of mobile phone services and also mandate the telecommunication companies to file a petition with the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) whenever price adjustments on phone service fees are proposed. Ridon said House Bill 4380 also seeks the abolition of the interconnection fees for mobile phone services saying "the telecommunication companies have already recouped their expenses for infrastructure and equipment th

Though this law was enacted in the year 2010, but majority of the people are not aware yet of its existence.  All what they knew was it is only the Public Attorney's Office (PAO) who provides them free legal services.  They are not yet aware of the fact that even Private Law Practitioners could provide them free legal assistance. This is what Republic Act No. 9999 tells us.  The provision of free legal assistance to qualified citizens of the Philippines.  This act is also known as the LAPID LAW precisely because the main proponent of which was Senator Lito Lapid. This act provides a mechanism for free legal assistance and for other purposes. Good News for the Public School and as well as to Registered Nurses

Image
This post is taken from the official website of the House of Representatives of the Philippines ( http://www.congress.gov.ph/).  Hopefully, this measure would provide the students in the public schools the access to medical services they ought to have supposedly. Moreover, it would also provide employment to our Registered Nurses and thereby would lessen the increasing number of unemployed RN nationwide. A House leader is seeking an inquiry into the possibility of appointing one nurse for every public school to provide accessible health care to some 17 million students enrolled in public schools nationwide and provide jobs to some of the 221,000 unemployed nurses in the country. Deputy Speaker Carlos Padilla sought the inquiry through House Resolution 1283 which directs the House Committee on Basic Education to look into the possibility of employing one school nurse for every public school in the country. "Assigning a nurse to every public school in the country

To Reelect PNOY? That is the Question....

Image
Amidst the cry of militant-minority-bloc Members of the House of Representatives to impeach President Benigno S. Aquino III or PNOY, some of PNOY's supporters launched a fan page on a social media calling for his reelection.   This photo was taken from a fan page supporting PNOY for his reelection at https://www.facebook.com/wesupportyoupinoy/photos_stream Accordingly, PNOY is successful in leading our country to the straight path (daang matuwid).  Thus, they would like him to continue what he has started. However, it is provided in the 1987 Philippine Constitution that the President shall have only one term.  Thus: "The President shall not be eligible for any reelection". Thus, despite the clamor of PNOY's supporters to urge him to run again as President, he is barred by no less than the highest law of the land.  It is our very constitution that bars PNOY from running as President.  However, if he runs for another position other than Presiden

To Impeach Pres. Aquino? Here's How...

Image
Just before Philippine President Benigno S. Aquino III delivered his 5th State of the Nation Address, a militant-minority-bloc of members of the Lower House or the House of Representatives has endorsed an IMPEACHMENT COMPLAINT against him.  Would this impeachment complaint succeed?  It would be another story. A picture of Impeach Pres. Aquino movement taken from newsinfo.inquirer.net This post would discuss how to impeach a public officer.  Of course, the discussion is basically based on what the 1987 Philippine Constitution provides. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impeachment tells us that impeachment is a formal process in which an official is accused of unlawful activity, the outcome of which, depending on the country, may include the removal of that official from office as well as criminal or civil punishment.  In the Philippines, to impeach a public official simply means to to remove from office. In the 1987 Philippine Constitution, the following are the only publ

Republic Act No. 10172

Image
In case the readers have forgotten what Republic Act No. 10172 is, this post would remind them anything they should know about this law. Republic Act No. 10172 is an "Act Further Authorizing the City or Municipal Civil Registrar or the Consul General to Correct Clerical or Typographical Errors in the Day and Month in the Date of Birth or Sex of a Person Appearing in the Civil Register Without Need of a Judicial Order, Amending for this Purpose Republic Act No. 9048". Image taken from http://plus613.net/image/19685 What is included in R.A. 9048 is only correction as to the typographical or clerical error of the FIRST NAME or NICKNAME of the person as appearing in the Civil Register.  Thus, in R.A. 10172, the clerical or typographical errors as to the day and month in the date of birth or sex of a person have been added thereto. What is the coverage of R.A. No. 10172? It is basically limited to the clerical or typographical errors in the day and month i

Image
Mommy D's photo taken from http://entertainment.inquirer.net/148564/is-mommy-dionisia-pacquiao-living-in-marrying-lover Mommy Dionisia Pacquiao or Mommy D is now in the spotlight again.  It is not because she was one of the ten personalities who were voted as the best dressed in the 5th State of the Nation Address (SONA) of Philippine President Benigno S. Aquino III but it is because of the rumor that she plans to marry her 40-year old boyfriend. Recently, it was no less than the world boxing icon Sarangani Representative Manny Pacquiao who divulged such information that Mommy D is now on the marrying stage again. The question now is would Mommy D have no legal impediment to marry her boyfriend. Accordingly, Mommy D is previously married to another man.  And this man is not even Manny's father.  As a matter of fact, Mommy D and Manny's father were just common-law spouses or commonly known as live-in partners because of Mommy D's previous marriage.
