In the previous post, LEMON LAW BILL was already discussed.   At that time, the bill was still in Congress and still to be deliberated and be voted upon. Aquino has signed into law Republic Act Number 10642, an act strengthening consumer protection in the purchase of brand new motor vehicles.   This act shall be known as the “Philippine Lemon Law” . So, what is in store here in the Philippine Lemon Law? As the law suggests, it basically strengthens the protection for the consumer in the purchase of brand new motor vehicles. Lemon Law

Yes, you read it right.  It is Lemon Law.  However, it is not intended for the protection or anything related to lemon fruits. It is actually for the protection of buyers of brand new vehicles later discovered to be substandard quality. The enactment of this law originated from the United States.  Accordingly, automobiles that are found to be defective before they are sold were labeled as "LEMONS".  Thus the term, Lemon Law.
