Republic Act No. 11228 which was signed into law on February 22, 2019 has amended Republic Act No. 7277, as amended, otherwise known as the "Magna Carta for Persons With Disability". It provided mandatory PhilHealth coverage  of all Persons With Disability (PWD).  Thus, "All PWDs shall be automatically covered under the National Health Insurance Program (NHIP) of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).  Premium contributions for all PWDs shall be paid by the national government: Provided, That the premium contributions of PWD members in the formal economy shall be shared equally by their employers and the national government.  The funds necessary for the effective implementation of this Act shall be sourced from the National Health Insurance Fund of PhilHealth earmarked from the proceeds of Republic Act No. 10351, otherwise known as "An Act Restructuring the Excise Tax on Alcohol and Tobacco Products by amending Sections 141, 142, 143...

Great news for all SENIOR CITIZENS.  Pnoy has just recently signed into law for the mandatory PhilHealth coverage for all senior citizens. This law is Republic Act Number 10645. It amended for the purpose R.A. No. 7432 as amended by R.A. No. 9994, otherwise known as the “Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010”. Accordingly, the government shall provide the following  1.  Additional Government Assistance; and 2. Mandatory PhilHealth Coverage “All senior citizens shall be covered by the national health insurance program of PhilHealth. Funds necessary to ensure the enrollment of all senior citizens not currently covered by any existing category shall be sourced from the National Health Insurance Fund of PhilHealth from proceeds of Republic Act No. 10351, in accordance with the pertinent laws and regulations”.
